Golf Swing Book Review -- Another Scam or What?
Thu, 06 Aug 2009 04:34:49 +0000

The secret of the golf swing is the first move down. Plenty of people have written about this topic. As a matter of fact, it looks like every time someone goes near this subject, the whole golf world throws the two letter word “cast” at you. The terms “cast” or “casting the golf club” were used in the 60’s and have escalated to the point where in the event you mention any other way of swinging the golf club down other than “pulling on the handle” or generating drag and making a tight angle along with your arms, the golf world is prepared to pounce on you.
The lovely news, bad news is the terms "pulling on the handle" and "creating a tight angle" have kept me busy for the past 25 years. In the event you are trying to practice the above mentioned phrases, I feel confident you'll finish up hitting plenty of shots to the right. The ability to hit a golf ball squarely with the correct timing has more to do with how plenty of hours you can dedicate to the game than it does with how hard you can pull on the handle of the golf club.
Your ability to generate clubhead speed lies in the speed you can swing your hands, arms and golf club not in how fast you can pull the grip finish of the golf club. Clubhead speed is created from you generating width in the right arm on its journey back to the golf ball.
Swinging the hands, arms and golf club back to the golf ball with maximum clubhead speed independent of the lower and upper body is not the answer either. Swinging the golf club back to the golf ball on the correct path with maximum clubhead speed is the combination of the hands, arms and golf club swinging together with the lower body moving out of the way and the upper body turning back towards the target. The upper and lower body CANNOT swing independent of each other.
Do youself a favor and get this book to read. The swing this book will teach you will have your shots flying longer and straighter than you ever imagined feasible... give unbelievable consistency to your drives...and become so simple and natural you’ll drop in to it time after time without even thinking about it. The Jump Manual Review -- Another Scam or What?
Sun, 02 Aug 2009 18:30:28 +0000

Tell me if this has ever happened to you...
You’ve prepared and practiced for hours before game day. You’ve completed all the exercises and training you know the way to do. This game is the most important one of the season. You’re prepared to roll.
You arrive on the court…and suddenly you break out in a sweat. Nothing in your life has ever been so important as THIS GAME.
But the more you give it some thought, the more you recognize that there’s a lot riding on this that you don’t know if you’ve practiced after all. If only there was one more day to put in some work and time.
As the game starts, you miss shot after shot. You trip on your shoelaces. You fumble the ball. No matter what you try, you can’t get in to the zone.
The coach shakes his head at you in disgust, and by the time the game is over, you’re banging your head with frustration. What went wrong?
Regrettably, this is all common on the performance field. Learning to keep a chilled head and a collected game may be the most important skill you create for game day.
And there's actually professionals who have studied this field—the field of sports psychology—extensively. No other specialists know better what to do to address those issues—game day issues.
Here’s one tip…
Always keep in mind that practicing and performing are one different things. On game day, forget about judging how it’s going. Technical judgements are over by this time—it’s time to keep your focus on what’s important, and that’s the game. If you’re having trouble focusing, look at something that has no judgment associated with it: the spin of the basketball, the color of your jersey; until you’re able to get back in to the flow.
The Jump Manual came out with some awesome interviews, including Patrick Cohn’s specialist advice after being 20 years in the field, and (sh, it’s a secret) only recently, the great Timothy Gallwey’s advice on playing the Inner Game.
These folks will let YOU know how to overcome the most challenging frontier they as athletes must face, our own brain..
